Advance reviews of the drama, named for Richard Williams, father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams, who drove his daughters to international sports superstardom, are stellar —with Smith singled out for particular praise for his performance as the devoted, driven dad determined to turn his daughters into global icons. It’s the kind of movie that had a good chance at becoming a box office sensation back in the day; however it fares box office-wise with its simultaneous theatrical/streaming debut on Nov. 19, it looks like a Will Smith comeback is assured following a decade of wandering from one box office misfire to another .
