David built this for taking recreational trips and he spent about 500 hours making this camper. He learned a lot along the way. He really had to love the journey! While being focused on this one task, it became a meditative experience as well as having more time to spend with his kids. Having a 4×4 […]

Photo: Getty Images (Getty Images) On one end of the parenting-style spectrum are the “ helicopter parents ” who hover in an ever-vigilant attempt to protect their children from basically everything. On the opposite end, we have the “ free range parents ” who let their kids roam—just like we all did in the good ol’ days, back when we only came home for the occasional sandwich or when the street lights came on at dusk. But there is a middle ground to be found […]

Photo: Tysovska Nina (Shutterstock) Strong-willed children are challenging to raise. They can turn even the most basic and routine of situations into a battle of the wills. They don’t just want to be right; they know they are right. They cannot stand to be told what to do all the time, so they will defy you at every turn, and the more obedience you demand, the harder they dig in their heels. They are stubborn, to be sure—but we shouldn’t call them that. It’s easy […]

Grasping its importance at an early age means understanding and appreciating that people are different, and that that’s what makes the world more interesting. In particular, teaching kids early on about different foods, eating habits, and mealtime traditions can help them understand, appreciate, and embrace people from different backgrounds later in life. The “lunchbox moment” has become the subject of countless personal essays, as many immigrant […]

Language experts generally agree that the first six years of a child’s life are the most formative for learning language. We speak and little ears listen, acquiring meaning, coming to comprehend syntax, sensing nuance. Teaching your child a new language early on is a life-long gift that may take them to unexpected and wonderful places. For instance, thanks to her parents’ diligent efforts, Geneva Long has always been fluent in Citroën 2CV. And not just 2CV, but all dialects of the Citroën family of romance […]

Your pastel plastic tablecloth with the flowers and bunnies is suddenly deeply uncool, and they’re rolling their eyes at your enthusiastic suggestion that they peel themselves off the couch to go looking for all the plastic eggs you hid for them. Mr. Mom — that’s me. In our home, we have what you call a modern living arrangement. My wife goes off to work while I cook meals, wash clothes and change a lot of poopie diapers. I guess that makes me a bust out as even a Mr. Mom since I can’t handle all the chores that women have generally taken care of for […]

Suggestions for mid-March camping in the Rockies region?

Does anyone have a good mid-March suggestion for RV campaign within 12ish hours of Denver? Right now, the best option seems like Grand Canyon, but I’m MORE than ready to hear other […]

As RVing becomes more and more popular, we are seeing a number of improvements being made by both RV manufacturers and the RVers themselves. One of the most common changes people are making to their own RVs is to pull out the TVs and replace them with projectors. There are a number of reasons such a change benefits RV users, and after trying it for ourselves, we have to say this is definitely a positive change every RV owner should consider.
